Along with his co-author Professor Mohammad Niamat Elahee from Quinnipiac University, USA, Afzalur Rashid presented the paper titled “Economic Development and Waste Generation in Asia Pacific Region: The Role of Culture and Education“

The key finding of the paper is that there is a significant positive curvilinear U-shaped relationship between economic development and waste generation. As the economic development reaches its peak, the curve starts to flatten. Different cultures differently moderates the relationship between economic development and waste generation. Education negatively moderates the relationship between economic development and waste generation.
